THAIS Photography

Documenting realness. Wedding + Lifestyle Photography.

I’m a couples and weddings/elopements photographer with focus on photojournalism and emotional connections. I truly believe in embracing the elements of each session/wedding that I shoot. I treat my clients as my friends which allows me to not only genuinely portrait them but mostly to  developing a level of trust and intimacy. I’ve a background in film so storytelling is super important to me. The results are more than just pretty pictures. I love the outdoors, road trips, street festivals, singing out loud, big dogs and the smell of the rain. I could eat steak and fries everyday, every meal! I strongly dislike confined spaces and any sort of housekeeping chores. Fun fact: I was born and raised in Brazil, moved to the U.S. after marrying  a gringo (Portuguese slang for foreigner… the more you know, right!) and together we have three big/cute dogs. I’ve always considered myself a big city person and then I moved to the beautiful North Dakota.  Although I still miss all the chaos and variety of things to do that a metropole has to offer, I’ve learn do appreciate the ol’ Midwest way of life.

  • What do you love most about what you do? I love that I get invited into my clients lives. I get a front row ticket to big moments that mark their journeys as a couple and family. The realness, the feelings, the one of a kind in between moments... all of the quirks that make their story theirs. I get to document it for them, their kids, their grandkids and all generation to follow.
  • What gets you out of bed in the morning? My dogs! They will look deep into my eyes with their cutest puppy faces (no matter how old they are, they will always be my puppies!) and mentally tell me "Woman! Can't you tell I need to pee!?"
  • Where did your passion for what you do start? My dad was an avid photographer hobbyist. I remember growing up, he would always carry he film camera during our family vacations, holidays or just a simple day in our routine lives. I love looking back on all of my childhood memories that he capture so beautifully. I guess that was it all started. I fell in love with the power of visually telling a story. After graduating from film school, photography kind of chose me and I gladly embrace it!
  • What is your advice for a healthy, long lasting relationship? Communication, respect and empathy! This is a killer combination. If we say what we mean, and make sure to validate and understand where the other person is coming from, any problem will never turn into a heated comfratation but will be a challenge that you will face together as a team.
  • What is your best advice to couples planning their wedding? Focus on what matters to you. Make sure your day is a reflection of your needs and wants. Only then you will be able to look back and say with no regrets "This was the BEST day of my life".
  • The most romantic movie of all time is... Just one!? ugh... okay. Comet with Justin Long. It's visually amazing and it's so raw. I love its realness and how it portraits relationships as they are, not all rainbows and roses.
  • My favourite dance floor jam is... Ummm... tuff one again! 80's music and Kesha!
  • The most romantic location in Australia is... I want you to show me what is the most romantic location in Australia. It's not the location, it's the couple and their actions. Netflix and chill can be pretty romantic, true story!
  • If you were an animal, which would best describe you? Definitely a dog!!
  • In my spare time I love collecting... Vinyl Records! I've over 100 of them.
