I am a younger-than-the-average Commonwealth Authorised Marriage Celebrant based in Western Australia who loves love stories. Lets celebrate your unique love story with a personalised wedding ceremony just for you.

Julia Polkinghorne is a Commonwealth Authorised Marriage Celebrant based in Western Australia. Julia began her career as a lawyer, after completing a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Australia. Julia enjoyed working with families and helping those people who needed it the most, so found her niche specialising in Family Law. After the birth of her son in 2010, Julia decided to resign from legal practice for a more family friendly career. After some time at home as a stay at home mum, Julia decided it was time to move on to the next adventure. Following her passion for helping people, and her love of celebrating the special things in life, a suggestion from her sister-in-law compounded into a new career as a civil celebrant. Upon completing her Certificate IV in Celebrancy, Julia quickly realised that while she loved weddings, she wanted to be a unique type of celebrant. Julia’s focus is always on what she is able to do to make each ceremony personal to each couple. In addition to this, Julia felt compelled to complete a course in Life Celebrations, giving her the skills to not only perform marriages, but also commitment ceremonies, renewal of vows and baby naming ceremonies. Julia lives North of the River in Perth, Western Australia with her husband of 11 years and her two sons, aged 8yrs and 4yrs.

  • What do you love most about what you do? Hearing everyone's unique love stories. Every couple is so different, and I am a real sucker for a good "how we met" or engagement story. My favourite part of my job is taking those love stories and creating marriage that allow the couple's personalities to shine.
  • What gets you out of bed in the morning? Usually my two children! I have two boys, 6yrs and 2yrs, and they definitely keep me on my toes!
  • The most romantic movie of all time is... I'm probably going to get some eye rolls for this one, but Love Actually. It shows that love comes in all shapes and forms and is truly something to be celebrated.
  • What is your best advice to couples planning their wedding? Don't sweat the small stuff. As long as you are married by the end of the day, your wedding day is a success.
