  • What do you love most about what you do? I adore the creative process and I always have a notebook on hand to catch the plethora of arty ideas that are constantly streaming into my mind. I can start with an initial idea, and am always delighted when I let go of the reigns a little and the piece becomes something even better than I had first envisaged, that brings me a lot of joy to watch it unfold! Creating something totally unique, a bit magical and highly personal for a client is wonderful fun too, to see her first initial reaction is priceless (you do get the odd scream of happiness!) and then to see her wearing my pieces on such an important day as her wedding - well that's an honor to have such a part in that.
  • What gets you out of bed in the morning? The glee of getting to create as my imagination wills is a wonderful thing. I love to experiment with colour and design, using classic materials in new and unexpected ways. Treasure hunting for vintage finds is great fun too, so is visiting the hardware store if you'd believe it! Also a darn good cup of tea helps too - get the music on, the beads and tools out, and I'm a happy woman!
  • Where did your passion for what you do start? I've always had a fascination for dress ups, art and the natural world since I was very small, and these gems have never lost their sparkle for me. I was a water baby and also a flower picker from the off, and 35 years later I long for the sea when I'm away too long, and still press flowers in my hardbacks! My creativity was given lots of space to grow when I was young, and so it did! A full size mermaid costume was my major art work in high school and I made my own tiara for my formal (which I still have!). I belly danced for over 10 years and made my own fabulous costumes and also did my own henna and stage makeup, and I began creating jewellery and accessories for myself nearly 20 years ago! It's totally entwined with who I am, I love it so much and could never be without it.
  • What is your advice for a healthy, long lasting relationship? Ooh, this has been a long time in learning, but I would definitely have to say authenticity, self awareness and self care are highly important. My partner and I met in school, and 19 years later we finally got together and I feel that the cornerstone of our relationship is our commitment to awareness. Everyone has their history and background, and we all have baggage, but for us when we get triggered, we try our best to be very honest about the old feelings beneath the trigger - which usually have zero to do with the current situation. We work through it together, and also have outside support from our community and professionals. Accepting your own vulnerability also goes a long long way to treating yourself and your partner with love, compassion and acceptance. Without this we'd all be wearing armor, and intimacy simply can't flourish when we're wearing it!
  • What is your best advice to couples planning their wedding? Ask yourself what you really need, want and can afford. Your wedding is totally about you and your partner, so make it about what you like. If you're a sensitive soul - maybe keep it small and simple. If you're out there with boundless energy and are very theatrical - make it your own under a big top tent if you want!! And even more personal, if you really want to elope, why not go for it? Sure there are places where traditions are important, but so is your relationship, you and your partner, and being true to yourself.
  • The most romantic movie of all time is... Chocolat is pretty darn sweet (pardon the pun).. two free spirits in Juliette Binoche and Johhny Depp's characters, come together from their own full and authentic lives and get together. Their relationship is the cherry on top of this gorgeously crafted film, with the main story being about Binoche's path of coming from a nomadic, healer heritage to find a place within an established and rigid community. She holds her own and stays true to herself, and in the end everyone she meets is transformed, even herself. So beautiful!
  • The most romantic location in Australia is... Any headland overlooking the ocean is pretty wonderful to me. There's a wild and natural quality to the ocean that really speaks to me, it's like it refreshed you and washes you clean. When I was dating I would always bring my beau there, and now my partner and I enjoy this natural spectical as often as possible. Also, romance can be any place you are, it can be a way of life - from the way you move through life with your partner, to simple acts like lighting candles at dusk or wearing sensual perfume.
  • In my spare time I love collecting... Ooh that's a tough one, there are so many beautiful things I love to have around me! Right now it's Moroccan lanterns, teapots, beads, exotic fabrics and also interesting world music. These luxurious and often tiny things keep my Soul wrapped in colour, texture, life and joy! I'm a real nester at heart so anything that brings warmth, richness and comfort to my home is important. We may not need as many throw rugs and cushions as we currently have....
