Wild + Carefree: A Boho Styled Elopement

0

Wild flowers, Moroccan rugs, and charcuterie boards galore, this styled elopement is a bohemian dream come true. The whole shoot is set at Gather & Tailor, a trendy downtown event warehouse in Melbourne and the perfect blank canvas for the modern bride. Edgy and fun, we’re sharing all the inspiration for you below!

As a photographer, I really enjoy capturing love stories through weddings, that are specifically all about the couple. Weddings that are planned to match personalities and desires of the couple, without the hustle and bustle that can come with planning a traditional or larger wedding. When planning this styled shoot, I had my own wedding in mind. Natural, relaxed, and just ‘us’. I hand picked a team that I knew would just ‘get me’ and my vision, and it was a day to remember.

A wild and carefree elopement was set to take place at Gather and Tailor. Wild flowers, rugs, and plenty of food to graze at. We wanted the couple to feel like they were the only two people in the world, and that was exactly what we created. After a first look and portrait session, the couple enter in the an industrial blank canvas, with their wedding plans ready to unfold. Upon entering, the couple sees their ceremony set up, candle lit walk way to their arbour. To their left is their romantic, and quiet dance floor and to their right is their grazing reception. A space created just for them, to enjoy, and celebrate their relationship.

The flowers created for the shoot were designed to have wild and edgy elements, yet sophistication through the combination of textures and colour. The shape was also untraditional with wispy elements to give it a personalised vibe to the wild heart of the bride. The hand dyed silk ribbon was added to give an element of femininity and a free spirited nature to soften the dark and textured elements within the bouquet. We paired these with a moody custom calligraphy black acrylic sign to set it apart from the traditional welcome signs, with calligraphy agate place cards to match the aesthetic. Table styling was understated allowing each element to shine in its own right and let the florals and candle decor speak for themselves. The custom colab calligraphy leather jacket was intended to play on the edgy aesthetic with the quote linking back to the wild side of the bohemian theme.

Overall, the shoot wanted to focus on a connection of two people, their love and their laughter. Small, intimate moments, as well as the wild and adventurous fun their relationship holds. Just the two of them, against the world.
