White Poppy Lane

“Creating luxe pop up weddings in unique and stunning locations” best describes White Poppy Lane – a Victoria-based wedding business co-founded by close friends Megan Watson and Kate Adkins. Extremely passionate about weddings, beautiful things and creating special moments, Megan and Kate found themselves bringing people the luxe pop up wedding concept. For couples that are thrilled with the idea of a small and intimate wedding ceremony, the pop up wedding allows you to experience just this. With most details taken care of, White Poppy Lane organises the venue, celebrant, styling, flowers and photographers for your special day.

“We love what we do, and it honestly doesn’t feel like work. Each of us brings strengths and we bounce off each other and move forward really quickly on things. We just took a leap of faith and trust that this will be a successful concept,” shares Megan and Kate.

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BUSINESS?

“We are two mums who have bonded over our mutual love of fabulous weddings. Kate is a stylist and event planner and Megan is a celebrant, but it all went to the next level in October/November 2015 when the concept of White Poppy Lane was discussed. A week later, the business name was registered and we were off and running! We created this business to provide a different opportunity for couples wanting the beautiful ceremony spaces they see on Instagram, but without the price tag.”

WHAT MAKES YOUR BUSINESS SPECIAL OR UNIQUE?

“We have competitors who do similar things to us, but we feel we’re different because we focus on the gorgeous styling and offer a personal touch. Pop up ceremonies typically offer each couple a one-hour slot, marrying up to 10 couples a day, but we decided to go with quality over quantity. We have just four time slots on each day, with one and a half hour blocks offered to each couple, and 30 minutes changeover between each ceremony; plenty of time for a ceremony and some photos afterwards.”

WHAT ARE THE THINGS THAT YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?

“We love it when couples tell us ‘this is exactly what we wanted and didn’t know it existed!’. By sharing the same space with up to three other couples means they can all share the cost of the styling. It is also more eco-friendly and less wasteful. We become quite close to our couples to ensure we give them the ceremony of their dreams, whether that be relaxed and short, or heartfelt and romantic.”

WHAT’S COMING UP FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN 2017?

“We have four ceremony days booked so for 2017. We are now looking at 2018 dates.”

SHARE THE LOVE – NAME ANOTHER BUSINESS YOU WORK WITH OR ADMIRE IN THE EVENTS INDUSTRY PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT.

“Photographers Shelley Price and Dijana Ristevska – both have been super supportive and excited about our venture. We have an underlying rule that everyone we work with/partner with must be as excited about White Poppy Lane as we are. That underpins everything we do … we want everyone, including the guests to feel joyous, relaxed and well looked after.”
