Set on a farm in Australia, this couple brought the chic to compliment the rugged in their eclectic wedding day. They let the scenery take center stage, with minimal decor and natural tones and textures. While some couples might fear a little rain on their wedding day, this couple embraced it. Tell us about your proposal. We were on holidays in Hamilton island where we set off before first light on a bush walk to watch the sunrise from the beautiful passage peak. The sun peaked over the big blue horizon showing the archipelago of islands stretching across the Whitsundays. All of a sudden Cohen was on one knee, I was to emotional to hear his words… except his last sentence after a long pause… “so is that a yes?”.
How did you know your partner was the one? Cohens a realist and I’m a dreamer so we compliment each other in the most perfect of ways. For me it was love at first sight, for Cohen it maybe took a little longer haha but I think we always just knew. We have now been together 10yrs, since we were 21 so I think growing together has helped mould our relationship.
What do you love most about your partner? He is so determined in whatever he chooses to do! He has a passion for our planet and the living things in it that makes him light up. And he choses me.. over and over again.
What was your favourite part of the wedding day? There were so many special moments, from the laughing to the tears, from the first dance and to the last. But when the cottage fell silent and we sat as husband and wife for the first time, reading the love filled messages on our cards and reflecting on the day that flashed by for us was the most special.
Describe your wedding theme/style. I find beauty in everything raw and natural looking so we decided most of our styling would just be the natural outdoors. Which is why we chose Byron view farm, the green rolling hills, cobblestone fences, pine trees and the amazing sunset was all part of our dream. We tried to incorporate as many natural textures as Possible whilst adding a bit of glam with the pops of brass.
We used raw linen pouches with hand calligraphy feathers as place cards, they sat perfectly on speckled stone plates with raffia placemats. There was gold cutlery and brass vases filled with native flowers to add a bit of wow. From the rafters of the old white cottage also hung amazing native green foliage with glistening Edison bulb lighting peeking through. Candles, loads of candles everywhere!!!
What is marriage to you? Marriage is a promise to always choose that someone who completes you, that someone that creates balance in your life and is an extension of you. Marriage is to stand by them no matter the argument or distance. Marriage is to join forces and create the life of your dreams!
