Stephanie + Timothy

“Here we are on the cusp of something big and I am ready to jump because with you it is easy.”

THE PROPOSAL
As much as I always knew Tim and I would be married some day, after almost 10 years together it wasn’t something I was waiting for. It was my birthday, so we planned on having dinner at MoVida. Nothing felt out of the ordinary when Tim offered to drive home (I always drive), and I didn’t think it was odd when he went the wrong way home. I wasn’t even suspicious when he suggested we pull over on the Westgarth Bridge to see the view of the city. It was a beautiful, clear winter night. I only figured out what was happening when he was on one knee on the footpath holding my hand, looking up at me with a look on his face that I could only describe as nervous and feeling pretty happy with himself. I am sure I was looking back at him very confused and yelling at him to get up. He asked, and I said yes!

AS A COUPLE …
Tim and I are old souls. When we met at 19 years old, we were ready to settle. There was never any question that it was the beginning of forever. We’ve grown up together so we’ve always agreed on the big things, but we are also so different it’s almost comical. He’s the sensible one, I’m more impulsive. He’s a saver, I’m a spender. He’s an optimist, I’m a realist. But we both have hopes of making a family and home, travelling and striving in our careers, so it works.

STEPHANIE’S VOWS
Tim, I love you. I feel privileged to say this. I can’t wait to share the rest of my life with you. I look forward to what lies ahead and I will never take for granted the effort this requires nor the home that you provide me. We are a team. I cherish your friendship and will always respect you and support you. I call upon the persons here present to witness that I, Stephanie Stamatis, take you, Timothy Melville, to be my lawful wedded husband.

TIMOTHY’S VOWS

DEAR TIMOTHY
We did it. We got married! Now that the ceremony and the revelry are over, I want to thank you. Thank you for your support, for your patience, for your kindness and for your devotion. Thank you for allowing me to be everything I need to be. We both strive for so much and I know I would not be strong without you holding me up. I will always do the same for you. I feel lucky that we found each other when we were so young, that we have experienced milestones, triumphs and tragedies together, continue to grow with each other’s constant support and plan for what is yet to come. Here we are again on the cusp of something big and I am ready to jump because with you it is easy. We are a team and I love you.

DEAR STEPHANIE
We’re just about to reach our first marital milestone, our one-year wedding anniversary and truly, I did not know what to expect from marriage. We had already been together for what has felt like a lifetime. You have been my best friend since we were 19. How could a piece of paper change a thing? Wow. I had no idea. Of course I have always wanted us to settle down together. There was never any question. But it was always, “In a couple of years, not just yet …” But now it feels like it is finally here. I cannot wait to begin the next phase of our lives; starting a family, moving into a bigger home. Bring it on! It just can’t come soon enough. Over the past 12 years we have experienced so much. It’s already been a lifetime and yet, it’s only the beginning.
