Spontaneous Garden Elopement in the city of love – Paris Wedding

During a Europe trip from Sydney with their family, Nita and Ross surprised their family and friends when they announced they were eloping in Paris! After an intimate and relaxed garden ceremony they wandered the canals, streets and cafes of the city of love, and with Nita’s Alice McCall gown and the stunning photos by Phan Tien we’re officially OBSESSED. We talked with Nita about their love story and how their wedding day was:

Tell us about your proposal!

We were on a 6 week long trip around Europe, and spent the back end of the trip in Morroco. Ross had been carrying the ring throughout the entire trip (even through the Sahara), waiting for the perfect moment to propose!

He proposed to me during dinner in the stunning riad in Fez, Morrocco. As it was not peak season in Morocco, we had the whole riad to ourselves. Therefore, when he proposed, it was just the two of us with our lamb couscous, chicken tagine and the hotel lobby boy as the sneaky photographer. It was such a surprise and I was on cloud nine!

How did you know your partner was the one?

We met when we were both quite young. We both felt the immediate connection and fell in love immediately! In the 12 years we were together, we have been through all the emotional rollercoasters that life brings. And for every experience and obstacle, he is my rock. He makes me happy every single day.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

How do I possibly choose…?! The intimacy, the setting, our guests, EVERYTHING! The day was supremely magical. Our celebrant organized gorgeous accessories for our symbolic ceremony that really represented our love and union perfectly.

I remembered thinking to myself that this is exactly how I imagined the day would be, and I was elated.

Our amazing photographer captured our day so perfectly that the moments are still etched in our minds till this day. The final photos produced were stunning and we could not be happier! We ended the day with lunch at L’escargot Montorgueil with all our guests. The décor and the relaxed atmosphere was quintessentially Parisian and was trés magnifique.

What is marriage to you?

Marriage to me is fundamentally a couple’s intense commitment to one another. In love, in life and in every hurdle that comes their way. They experience it all together and the connection they feel for one another never waivers but becomes stronger each and every day.
