Sequins, Sand and Boho Styling - Cairns Wedding

2

Hayley + Jock’s wedding was a breathtaking combination of sequins, sand and boho styling! Captured by Rabbit and the Bear, it was a small and intimate outdoor ceremony with a blush pampas grass floral installation. We wanted to pin the flowers and her gorgeous sequin Jane Hill Bridal gown to every pinterest board we have! The ceremony flowers were created by The Vintage Hire Co with over 300 hand dyed blush pink ombré ostrich feathers and pink pampas grass in a circle of mirrored glass. It ended in tapering fresh floral garlands, set on a custom built white timber beach platform. This ‘Circe of Love’ Arbour would have to have be one of the most ethereally beautiful wedding arbours we have seen!!

We talked with the bride about her day and what she shared was so beautiful we had to share it with you all!

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

When I saw Jock through the palm trees for the first time, the feeling that hit me was like nothing I had ever experienced. The wave of emotion was so intense and overwhelming, I had been waiting all my life for this moment and finally it was here. I don’t remember seeing anyone in the crowd, I was so focused on Jock and his face and trying to hold the tears back that I honestly do not remember anyone in the crowd.

I will never forget this moment, it was incredibly special and I am certain I have never experienced anything like it before and never will again.

What is marriage to you?

Marriage to me, is the ultimate commitment that one can make to their loved one. It is respecting them as a person with their own interests, desires and needs, and realising that those are sometimes different, but no less important than the others. Married life is not easy - if anything, it is harder than ever before. All of a sudden, you’re back to reality. The fairytale week of your life is over and you actually have to knuckle down, go back to work and still try to find a way to make time for each other, dedicate an hour of an afternoon to each other because it is so easy to get caught up in life and you can’t just think ‘we’re married now, I don’t need to make any extra effort’ - wrong! You absolutely do. More so now than ever. This is not a bad thing, it is just something that I wasn’t prepared for - a huge shock to me but we are slowly settling into married life together and working out what the negotiable and non-negotiables are from each other. It still makes me smile when Jock introduces me as his wife.
