Romantic Rural Wedding: Andy + Meg 4

After spending more than eight years together in 15+ countries with two major career changes, there was no doubt in the minds of Andy and Meg that they were meant to be together.

The couple got engaged while staying in Clare Valley in Adelaide to celebrate Meg’s birthday. They had just finished an eight kilometre run and Meg was way more interested in breakfast than whatever it was that Andy wanted to show her in the vines. It was then that Andy got down on one knee and asked Meg to marry him. Meg, of course, said yes, before the pair began wondering what they would have done if Andy lost the ring on the run!

With great food, drinks and music lined up, the couple were convinced the rest of their wedding day would fall into place. And it did! Despite a major hiccup transporting the pendant lights from Queensland down to Victoria with Meg’s parents, the lights eventually made it and became a favourite element of their wedding day.

What do you love most about your partner?

Andy – Meg is intelligent, ambitious, compassionate and a lovable dork.

Meg – Andy is young at heart, supportive and loving. He keeps my feet on the ground even when I’m going at a million miles an hour.

What is marriage to you? Marriage for us means commemorating all that we have already achieved together and celebrating whatever the future holds. After so many years together we didn’t think that much would change after we got married, but there has been a nice feeling of solidarity since we made our vows. We’ve already had to face challenges since our wedding and it has definitely helped us face them together.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day? An absolute highlight was spending time up on the hill with our wonderful photographers (Katie and Eric) and our videographer (Lochlan).  We all piled into Eric’s 4WD and went right to the top of the hills behind the venue. It was so still and peaceful up there and we looked down over the olive grove where we got married and the party that was developing below. There were so many laughs, squeals and happy tears up on that hill!
