Tell us about your proposal. After living and working in Europe we were travelling back home on separate adventures. Almost at the end of the journey I received an email saying my flight had been redirected to Kuala Lumpur. Adam had planned a trip for us to visit Borneo to see orangutans and elephants in the wild (something I had always wanted to do). He also had another big surprise which was to propose on the first night of our trip. It was very sweet and a huge shock. Totally romantic and completely Adam.

How did you know your partner was the one? We met at work and became great friends. Looking back now it’s obvious to me that the fact that we started out as friends really laid a strong foundation for our relationship.

6 months later, I was headed off to travel and live abroad and I knew he was the one when he flew across the world to come and get me and told me he just wanted to take care of me. I was completely blown away by how courageous and romantic he was. This was the beginning of an intrepid life together!

What do you love the most about your partner? Three things that drew me to Adam were those green eyes, his intelligence and his ability to always make me laugh. He was so naturally funny and just a genuine, modest guy. He is the most loyal and caring man I’ve ever known. Laughter is the big one though and I really loved that in my father in law’s speech at our wedding he included this quote from Joanne Woodward which was really fitting for us -

‘Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah now that’s a real treat’

What was your favourite part of the wedding day? It was such an amazing day and we loved every minute of it. Pre-wedding with my bridesmaids and family was so special and the excitement was palpable. Honestly, everything went so smoothly and the day just had the most beautiful, relaxed vibe to it. I think I speak for us both though when I say that our favourite part would have to be the speeches. The energy in the room was out of this world! Constant smiling and laughter from everyone that only increased with every speaker was really very special. To be in a room filled with such warmth and love is truly beyond anything we could have dreamt of.  All your closest friends and family together hearing our story through the words of those who know us best was incredibly touching.

We have met some very special people on our travels that have become our family so having everyone under the one roof to witness us become husband and wife was truly unforgettable.

Describe your wedding theme/style. The style was rustic boho, elegant and informal. We really wanted our wedding day to be a reflection of us, so we made it as easy going as possible. We are extremely blessed with some very artistic friends and family who blew us away with their help from making our wedding cake, designing our gorgeous wedding signs and styling our table floral arrangements. Even our celebrant was a close family friend.

During our wedding planning I told Adam that I loved macramé. Sure enough, Adam taught himself to weave and made this incredible macramé centrepiece for our wedding (I definitely married a very creatively minded man!). The bridal table was hand made using an old paling fence that was being knocked down and it turned out so beautiful.

My bridesmaids completely blew me away with how they brought my vision to life too! Vibrant florals, nude undertones and personal styling touches really tied everything together.

I really love chic, effortless style and I wanted the day to reflect our free-spirited nature which is exactly how it felt.

What is marriage to you? Marriage to me has always been about commitment. After being with Adam for 8 years it felt like a culmination of all we had shared together and a confirmation that we would be moving into the next chapter of our lives together which really means the world to me. It is an exciting new beginning and having the chance to solidify our already strong foundation.

Marriage to me is no judgement and having each other’s back through it all. It’s taking on the world with your best friend.

I have always felt safe and at home with Adam and to know that I get to have that feeling for the rest of my life is a rare and beautiful thing.
