I must admit it was the pineapples that caught my eye when this collection of images came across my plate a short while back. Besides instantly wanting to eat one, I was drawn in by their bold statement, brightly hanging from a tree in the middle of a Fijian beach…brilliant! In case you’re wondering, this is not a wedding and this is not how pineapples grow, but Kama Catch Me, a darling husband-and-wife team, based this shoot on their love for surrealism and who else to look to than that crazy Belgian ninja of surrealism, René Magritte. Couple Ropate and Gitte have mixed it up with a bit of old-school Suva and new-school talent and are pushing their creative boundaries and by doing so, honouring an amazing artist.
