Paula + Dan: Modern, Melbourne wedding

3

Paula + Dan complement each other in ways that remain effortless and natural between the two, wanting “to spend every minute together”. Take a look at their intimate photos below and share in the celebration of their newfound marriage and love.

Tell us about your proposal.
We were away in Barwon Heads over Christmas and always have a Christmas Eve lunch together, just the two of us. Before we got our lunch down, Dan suggested we go for a walk along the beach. He told me all the reasons why he loves me, and was down on one knee with a ring, asking me to marry him! Lots of tears! Such a beautiful memory.

How did you know your partner was the one?

I knew Dan was the one quite early on in our relationship. I just loved being around him. We complement each other so beautifully. We had only been dating for a fortnight, when my only sister passed away unexpectedly. The maturity, love and support that he demonstrated through that time, really helped us forge a once in a lifetime love and friendship. We just wanted to spend every minute together and here we are today.

What do you love most about your partner?

Dan: I love her natural beauty and kindness. Her kindness not just towards myself, but to everyone around her. I love her sense of style, humour and appreciation of my ‘dad jokes’ – the best jokes.

Paula: I love his gentle nature. He’s such a quiet achiever. I love the way he protects me in life and how he shows his love – so unassuming. He is the most genuine, considerate man and makes me laugh every day. He’s my best friend.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

Seeing Dan at the alter! All my nerves went when I saw him and the tears in his eyes. We had a number of friends and family that travelled from overseas to come to our wedding, so finally having everyone we love in the one room, was pretty precious too.

Describe your wedding theme.

Modern and simplistic. The view over the lake and city really speaks for itself at Carousel, so we wanted a clean look to complement that – loads of greenery, white florals and plenty of candle light.

What was your favourite detail?

Is food a detail? Everything revolved around food for us! Ensuring all our friends and family had plenty to eat and drink was key. We had a delicious seafood station, a bar on the deck for everyone to enjoy, roaming deserts and Espresso Martini’s. It was the best day/party of our lives!

And my dress. The incredible Georgia Young created a stunning, custom neoprene gown for me. I wanted something modern, yet still classic. She was absolutely beautiful to work with and made the entire lead up to the wedding such a pleasure.

What is marriage to you?

Marriage to us is the commitment to creating a beautiful and loving life together. Finding pleasure every day, in doing the ordinary things as husband and wife, makes us feel so content. We really feel closer than ever before. I’m so happy to be finally married to my best friend.
