Outdoor Byron Bay Wedding

When a bride tries to imagine everything that could possibly go wrong on her wedding day, not many would anticipate a cyclone showing up to ruin the plans. But for Tegan and Tim, that’s exactly what happened! But while the cyclone ruined their original wedding planning, the couple and the family and friends could not be deterred from having a brilliant time celebrating the incredible love between the newlyweds.

“Our wedding day was far from what we imagined and planned… We had to roll with the punches,” Tegan says. “With Cyclone Debbie showing up the day before the wedding we experienced a lot of last minute changes that truly reminded us of what the day was about. The storm showed us more love than we could have ever imagined possible.

“The morning of the wedding we had no water and electricity to get ready with and my bridesmaids had to move a tree that was blocking the road to reach us. My Dad was kept busy trying to get electricity back and figuring out yet another ceremony site. Gale force winds forced us to find a new venue, so plan C it was. We had new faces knocking on our door every hour saying they were here to help and step in for a role.

“Timmy and I were lucky enough to get married twice in one day: once in a private ceremony amongst the trees and secondly by my amazing brother Mitch who stepped up to take on the role of Celebrant along with MC for the day. This was possibly one of the most special moments of all!

“Walking down the aisle was like nothing I could have imagined, with so much love and excitement in the air that we had finally made it to the alter. We had so many amazingly talented people pulling everything in their power to make our day come together. Our amazing planner Kiera from Creative Weddings Byron Bay – bringing a new meaning to going above and beyond; Ky from The Grove Styling making absolute magic at our new venue; Che and the team from Byron Bay Weddings not only cooking up a storm but finding a solution to every little obstacle we had in our path; Rabbit and The Bear and Ivy Road Photography were an absolute dream to work with, doing what ever they could to capture every special moment amongst the chaos.”
