Naomi + Alan

6

‘Let your love be what makes your choices for your wedding’ – this is the resounding message that showed in every element of Naomi and Alan’s wedding (captured by Samuel Goh), from their “I do crew” of 19 friends that replaced their bridal party, to the humorous Dachshund co-MC. Needless to say, the couple are all about embracing uniqueness, starting off their “wedding journey” with a treasure hunt proposal that was completely personalised. Read how it unfolded below from the bride herself.

‘Alan proposed when we went on a family trip to Esperance in the south of WA, a postcard-perfect coastal town. Alan is a real all-in kind of guy and this totally showed in the extravagant treasure-hunt style proposal. On Christmas Eve (I really love Christmas!) Alan woke me at 6am with a kiss on the forehead and placed an envelope in my hands. The clue lead me to all of my favourite things for a day of being completely spoiled. It felt like the whole town was involved everywhere I went the shops and cafés where all in on it. Some of the stops along the treasure hunt included a big breakfast, a massage and mani, pre-paid shopping trip at a local boutique, a clue about giving me a “ring” (which turned out to be a stop at a tattoo place for a nose piercing), an amazing gourmet lunch and eventually a clue which lead me to a beautifully styled boho tent on one of Esperance’s most stunning beaches surrounded by candles and Tiki lights. Alan greeted me with a posy of my favourite natives and sunflowers. He knelt down in a heart made of flowers, got out his journal, read me a proposal speech, then gave me a ring he had designed himself and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and as soon as I did Alan lead me inside the tent where he had set up a cozy little area with cushions, blankets, wine, chocolates, cheese, our song playing, fairy lights and even a table with some bridal magazines, pen and paper for us to start dreaming up our wedding. We stayed on the beach and watched the sunset drinking wine for a few hours soaking up the moment and then joined family and friends at the local pub to celebrate.’
