Moody & Feminine: An Outdoor Styled Elopement

Dripping with soft hues and understated elegance, this styled shoot is the perfect combination of moody and glam. Think delicate lace, simple decor — all with an element of sophistication and grace. Keep reading to hear how it all came together and see more from Summer Soelberg Photography.

I have always loved purples and blues and moody glam. So that’s what we were going for with this shoot. We wanted it to feel lavish and moody without getting too trendy. We wanted it to be a little edgy without losing the femininity of the bridal style. I think the best part of this whole shoot was getting to work with such amazing people. So here come the Vendor Raves:

Staci (of Sweet Grace Floral) and Sarah (MUA) were the first people I got on board. The three of us tag-teamed being the “Stylist” for this shoot and I couldn’t have done it without either of them! Both Sarah and Staci are very talented stylists outside of their professional roles as florist + makeup artist. Their talents and ability to create is so incredible to me and I knew they could bring my vision to life as well as attach their own visions and ideas to connect all the dots. Both of them were phenomenal as expected. Sarah is a certified makeup artist (ATTENTION ALL BRIDES: GET A MAKEUP ARTIST THAT WENT TO SCHOOL + HAS EXPERIENCE!! I can’t tell you how much of a difference good makeup makes in photos. And I can’t tell you how many people invest in the wrong makeup artist and end up with a blown out nose from too much highlighter, or enlarged pours due to products that don’t blend well together)

Staci also set the table and arranged the place settings. The dishes used were from one of my closest friends China cabinet. They actually belonged to her mother! The goblets were something I picked up specifically for the shoot and are now in my China cupboard because I love them so much!

Now for the Gown. Mary’s bridal is a shop I have worked with before and can I just say how much I love them? They bring in such an amazing selection of gowns and have such an open, friendly, helpful, enjoyable personality. This gown is stunning. It’s designed by Watters, and it could not have been more perfect for the vibe of the shoot. Notice the color of the lining, and the perfect details of the sleeves. (It also comes in ivory if the colored gown isn’t what you’re looking for) and in both hues, It is truly spectacular.

The Cake was created by Cassidy of Flour and Flourish. She is a true master of the art of cake-making! The cake had a “velvet” finish and went perfectly with our lavish dreams for the shoot.

The benches and cake-cutting table were graciously provided by All Star Party Rentals. I cannot say enough good about these people either! It is a family run business and they literally have EVERYTHING you need to furnish any event. Long wooden tables, benches to match. Chairs, plastic folding tables, cake cutting tables, outdoor heating options,  and more! They were wonderful to work with, helpful, and affordable.

The bridesmaids dresses were just a lucky find online after the original vendor who was going to provide the bridesmaids attire fell through, but it was a happy thing that we had to find an alternative because they were absolutely PERFECT.

All of the models involved were beautiful and so patient with the whole process.
