Modern Meets Vintage

Lush florals, colourful tableware and old-world elegance combine in this stunning styled shoot. Hear the inspiration behind the shoot from Jackie of Penelope Pots Floral + Event Design, then scroll down for gorgeous images by Meghan Elise Photography.

“Inspired by all things botanical, this 1940s era film shoot exudes a deep and modern elegance that is sure to inspire those couples looking to create a lush wedding experience.

The tablescape is topped with vintage place settings true to the era to allow for authenticity. Massings of peonies, poppies, ranunculus and hellebore, to name a few, rest amongst a garland of textural greens, creating the effect of guests sitting amongst a botanical garden. Adding a hint of modernity is a hand-painted cake with caramelised sugar tops that seemingly drip their way down the face of the cake, creating a watercolour effect.

‘Serenity’ blue can be found throughout the design—from the tabletop, to the bouquet’s hand-dyed silk ribbon, to the invitation suite. To add further colour to the silk ribbon, the ends were dipped in blue children’s hand paint (mixed with water) and left outside to dry. The envelope of the romantic invitation suite was topped off with a wax seal and adorned with romantic hand calligraphy.

With this shoot, our hope was to create an organic and botanical composition of ‘modern meets vintage’ wedding images that inspire.”
