Take a break with Kate as she talks us through the magic behind their wedding day.

Numbers have always been significant in our relationship. We met on the 10th of the 10th and planned our wedding for 10.11.12 – the date had a fun ring to it and also meant we were married five years and one month to the day we met! We dreamed of creating a beautiful wedding that reflected us as individuals and also as a couple. From the invitations right through to the first dance, all of the decisions were made together.

On the morning of our wedding, I woke up to the sound of rain on the roof. Deep down, I knew it would rain on our wedding day, but I can honestly say it wasn’t a problem. I think I had already accepted this and was ready for it.

Our day was so much fun, and I’m so proud of all of the handmade elements that myself, my bridesmaids, my mum, my godmother and, of course, my husband, contributed to! Even our cake was made my Michael’s aunt as a gift. Someone made a comment that the reception felt like a “lovers’ wonderland” which made my heart sing!

Planning a wedding is so much fun and a really special time, but what matters most is what comes after “the big day”. If you get to marry the one you love, any of the things that don’t go to plan on the day, really aren’t significant. People search their whole lives to find a love like you have, so be grateful and cherish the special time with your loved ones!
