Made with Love Bridal

What was your inspiration for Made with Love? This season, I’ve been inspired by the European cities of Vienna and Prague, and I’ve dared to create designs for jaw-dropping entrances and life-long intrigue. I wanted beautiful details so that at every moment, every angle, our brides will dazzle, and guests will be in awe. I love the idea of brides showing their children their dresses in decades to come, and seeing a detail they had never seen before.

How did you go about starting up? Simply, I couldn’t find the perfect wedding dress. I found the dresses on the Gold Coast / Brisbane were either too “Hippy” or “Princessy” for me, I wanted classic, elegant and sexy. My dad gave me business advice and did the accounts, and my Mum helped me with the dress details. I did everything else and worked hard for it.

What are you offering that is different from the rest? I aim for unique bridal designs that encapsulate the untraditional and free spirited bride. For me, the ideal dress mixes something timeless with sass, cheekiness, edgy and feminine.

What gets you out of bed every day? I love my life and my job. To see how far MWL has come from working in my parents’ bedroom seeing brides before my marketing job to having 3 boutiques in Australia. We now have 29 stores stocking and selling my dresses in Australia, New Zealand, USA and South Africa. It honestly blows my mind thinking about this!

What do you love about your job? I love seeing our brides wear my designs. I love how much joy it brings our brides when they found their dress to marry their Love.

What does marriage mean to you? My marriage is my most important thing in my life; it’s also the most fun thing I have. Josh and I laugh together all the time. Things I love are late nights talking, teasing each other, eating takeout on our day bed, sharing a bottle of wine, inspiring each other, not taking life too seriously and encouraging each other.

What is your favourite piece you’ve ever designed? Frankie hands down. Her pockets, her ruching, her train, her lace, I melt every time I see her.

Tell us about your favourite experience as a business owner? When people ask me for advice!! I was never the smartest at school or University so when friends want to start up their own business and they come to me for advice, I get a little shocked. It’s fun to reflect on the lessons I have learned though; my mistakes make me realise how far I have actually come.

What is one word of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the industry? Be honest and true to yourself. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else. Walk you own road and go with your gut!
