Perfectly tranquil and picturesque, Rottnest Island was a beach wedding dream. We love the relaxed, intimate vibe of it all — the simple decor, clear marquee and the altogether peaceful setting. Keep reading to get to know Kieta + Trent and see more from their island wedding!

Tell us about your proposal. Trent and I meet at a Radio Competition “Psychic Setup” in 2013. After 3 amazing years Trent dropped the knee in a bar overlooking the surf in Uluwatu, Bali! I laugh because he wasn’t down there very long but it was a magical moment!

How did you know your partner was the one? When you wake up and he says you look beautiful- that means he’s the one! Trent says it every morning. He is also supportive of me in everything I endeavor to do.

What do you love most about your partner? I feel comfortable with Trent. He is so kind and caring and just the best person to be around. He is down to earth and always put others before himself.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day? I always wanted a destination wedding. We had travelled to many places around the globe together- South Africa, New Zealand, Bali, England…. but after much deliberation we settled on a small island just a 30min ferry ride from home. Rottnest Island, Western Australia. The most magical place- if you haven’t been it is a must!

After 2 years of planning the special day finally arrived! Everything was incredible! I felt like a princess in my dress, you could not wipe the smile off my face all day. The beaches are stunning, the Quokkas are so cute, the weather was perfect - it is just the most picturesque place to get married. From marrying the man of my dreams, spending time with my amazing family and enjoying the serenity of Rotto; I had the best weekend of my life. After much thought about a celebrant; I didn’t want just someone I had never met; I wanted it to be someone I could look back on in photos and be so glad they married Trent and I! To our surprise Mum came around one afternoon and informed us that she had just signed up to do the celebrancy course so she could marry us. We were over the moon! She has always been a great public speaker and she did the best job. She has now completed 3 weddings and has many more booked in the future. GO MUM! You made our special day and just that much more intimate. All the suppliers I used in the lead up and on the day of our wedding were just so helpful, professional and caring. I couldn’t of asked for it to go any more smoother! If I could give any advice to brides currently planning their wedding 1. Get lots of massages!, 2. Do what YOU want to do!, 3. Be different! Happy to chat further or give any advice to any future bride

Describe your wedding theme/style. We just wanted our wedding to be relaxed, fun and comfortable and so we made sure the styling of the marquee accommodated that.

What is marriage to you? Marriage for me means ‘Teamwork’. You are going to go share amazing times together but also have some challenges along the way. Make sure you listen to each other’s points of view and discuss the options….. and remember it all started because you love each other!
