Kelsey + David: An Italian Elopement

During a two-month long trip to Europe, bridal designer Kelsey Genna and her love, David, secretly said ‘I do’ in an intimate ceremony in Ravello, on the stunning Amalfi Coast.

After spending two weeks travelling up and down the countryside preparing the paperwork for their secretive nuptials, the couple wedded in Italian Town Hall style, with hand-picked flowers, an original blush and floral-stitched gown, and an adventurous afternoon ahead of them!

“We wrote our vows on the car ride from our villa to the Town Hall, which spoke of the fun, love and spontaneity we both share”, says Kelsey. “It was the most beautiful and overwhelming experience!”

The pair were married by the Mayor of Ravello, in the exquisite Town Hall gardens overlooking panorama views of the never-ending blue Amalfi Coast. “He wore an Italian sash and spoke in full Italian the entire ceremony, having our gorgeous celebrant Giovanna D’Amato translate for us. We required two Italian citizen witnesses (who we had to slip a cheeky 50 euro each!).”

After the ceremony, Kelsey + David drank celebratory limoncello at a local celebrity chef’s house (whom they had met the day before), ate gelato in the streets of Ravello, changed a tyre amidst bustling holiday traffic (Kelsey in a wedding gown!), and took a surprise boat ride at sunset. And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any sweeter, as the newlyweds sipped champagne, they wrote postcards to family members, revealing their wonderful news!

And, according to Kelsey, what’s the best part about eloping in Italy? “We had Europe at our doorstep for honeymooning! We spent a gorgeous week in Tuscany staying at Castello Banfi then went on to do several weeks touring our favourite European towns and spots.”
