Kate + Jeff

We don’t like to take ourselves too seriously and we’re always ready for an adventure. As much as we have in common, we also have very different interests and personalities. We’ve been known to take separate solo trips and we love that we value one another’s independence. Even though we might make fun of each other’s taste in music, we honestly make an effort to enjoy our differences and learn from one another. Overall, we like to think of ourselves as a team and we make sure we do not only big things, but little things throughout the day to help each other out. We expect a lot from one another and although we’re both giving partners, we also push each other really hard to be the best versions of ourselves. The biggest shared loves of ours are nature/being outdoors and all animals (of course our dog Ed is our favourite!). A big part of our lives and what makes us who we are is embracing and enjoying the simple things and not getting caught up in what everyone else is doing. The last few years we’ve really put this into play, from our decision to have an elopement versus an elaborate wedding to moving out of the city and into the desert. Our ideal day would be taking Ed for a long hike, enjoying coffee and tea, going ‘thrifting’, working out/doing yoga, and cooking dinner together—preferably in bed by 10pm.

We took a chance on each other, so I hope we never stop taking chances throughout our life together. I hope we make decisions that aren’t easy, but are right, because they are done so with love. I want to continue to respect and support each other’s dreams and independence. You told me today that part of being married means we are a team and don’t have to face things alone, and it grounded me and reminded me that it’s okay to have moments of weakness because you will be there to be strong for me. I want to continue always lifting each other up and challenging one another to be better. I hope we never lose the sense of adventure we have now. I hope that only grows as we embark on the biggest adventure—starting a family together. I dream of all the love and kindness you will give and teach. I can’t wait to see your smile when that next journey begins. I hope to have endless days filled with Van Morrison, sunshine and lots of kisses.

All I want to do is continue to love you. I can’t imagine anything more satisfying. Each memory we create together, every new experience we have, my fondness grows deeper. I want to be better at telling you in the moment though, so it’s something we can recognise together. It’s what you deserve and it’s what I want to give you. I will continue to appreciate our differences that make us individuals but also our shared passions that make us one. I will say this to the day I die—I have never met a better person. Your strength and compassion are second to none. And the positivity you give to this relationship almost brings me to tears. And when the time comes, we will begin a family of our own. I can’t wait to raise children with you. Your calibre of a human being is something that needs to be passed on. I know how important family is to you and you will be such a good mother. I don’t think someone could get so lucky as to find someone like you. I think it was written somewhere in the big picture. Kate, you are beautiful in every way. I am so proud to call you my wife.

Jeff, it’s pretty embarrassing to admit that I told my parents seven years ago before we even started dating that we were going to get married, but I guess it just proves how life sometimes works out and gets it right. These seven years haven’t all been easy, but they gave us the opportunity to really know each other, grow together and fight for one another. They’re our years, our days, our memories, and our moments. I wouldn’t trade them in for more perfect ones. Our trials have only made me love you more. “I saw that you were perfect, so I loved you. And then I saw that you were not perfect, and I loved you even more.” You’ve never let me down and I continue to love you deeper and stronger every day that passes. Each day I’m amazed and humbled by your kindness and compassion. You think about others instinctively and not as an afterthought as most do. Your willpower, strength, dedication and loyalty make up who you are and are not empty words, but actual actions that you commit. I push myself to be stronger to follow in your example. All of these qualities are the reasons I want to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you. How I know we’ll continue to love and support each other is our faith in one another. When I said, “I don’t know if I can do that,” you looked at me and said, “You can do anything; you can do whatever you want.” The person you see in me is the person I want to be. You make me a better woman and I will spend the rest of my life loving you for it.

Kate, when you first came into my life I was in dire need of a friend. We didn’t meet by chance, but rather, you arrived on time—at the perfect time. You have loved me unconditionally from then until now. You taught me how to open my heart, and showed me what it feels like to be loved. There is no greater gift somebody could give someone. Your selflessness and compassion is magnetic. Your constant beauty reminds me how lucky of a man I am. I am so blessed to have you in my life. Because of you, I hold myself to the highest standard. You deserve the best. There is nothing more exciting thinking of where we will go, what we will do, and every adventure along the way. The thought of us consumes me. Kate, you are part of who I am. Take you away and there would be no me. I will love you forever and then some. Thank you for being my miracle.
