Industrial Elegance 2

It’s hard not to get swept up in the dramatic mood of this elegantly modern styled shoot. Boston-based designers and stylists, A Styled Affair, based the details of the shoot around its venue: a striking industrial warehouse.

“Tucked away at the end of a quiet street in Somerville, Massachusetts, there is the most perfect blank-slate industrial warehouse open to the imagination of event designers and bride and grooms to be. With whitewashed brick walls and huge open windows, it is a great space to get imaginative and really make the vibe your own. With couples really stepping out of the traditional wedding box, we wanted to show modern simplistic inspiration with a touch of romance to those looking for something fresh and new.

When first seeing this space, we wanted to maintain the integrity of the simple décor by playing up the industrial modern vibe with soft greys and neutrals, and small pops of color to add romantic vibrancy. Whenever we’re going through the design process, we always come up with three to four words that we want people to think when they see the space. For this shoot we came up with ‘reinvented, moody, modern, romance’.

The first piece selected for this shoot that reflected our direction was this amazing slate-top table, which served as the basis for the color palette and design. With the modern white cape chairs as the main accents of the table décor, it was easy to continue with a clean, simplistic vibe. We used small geometric elements throughout, with a custom-designed invitation suite, geometric accent vase, and patterned dinnerware.

We worked with Laura Jean Floral & Event Design to create beautiful, moody centerpieces filled with greenery and deep maroon, blush, and pink flowers. The copper vases picked up the simple place card holders and copper flatware. Overall, the floral design contrasted perfectly against the neutral grey table décor by adding a touch of colorful romance.

With flower crowns and lace dresses being all the rage, we wanted to give modern brides simplistic and sexy fashion inspiration for their big day. We chose this form-fitting deep plunge white dress with a small mermaid hem to play to our bride’s curves. We decided to keep the hair and makeup clean and simple to really focus on the beauty of the bride. With gold making a comeback, her rings, bangle, and hair clip added a trendy metallic pop. With the addition of a beautiful bouquet, this bride was modern style and elegance all in one.

Looking back through this image gallery, this is one of our favorite styled shoots because it is so different from the norm and gives inspiration and ideas to those looking to make a blank space their own. With brides and grooms stepping up their style game, it is important to stay on-trend and show versatility in wedding design and décor, and this styled session did just that.”
