We love love love meeting new friends, especially when they are friends who harbour amazing talents. This lovely lady is the face behind Flora Folk, an upcoming, creative floral stylist who has a really beautiful sustainable philosophy.

Meet Becca.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m the founder and a floral designer of Flora Folk, my floral design studio located in Sydney. I love travelling, exploring gardens, art, design, music, movies and all things creative. And of course spending time with my family and pets!

How did Flora Folk Begin?

Flora Folk began with an urge to create a business of my own doing something that I love so much which is creating with flowers… I had this vision in my head for so long about what Flora Folk would be. The name not only represents the business but is also for people that love and appreciate flowers and the art of creating something different with them.

What is your all time favourite flower and why?

This is always a hard question, almost like when someone asks what my favourite movie or music is because there are SO many that I love. I always try to work with unusual, seasonal and locally grown flowers, ones that you won’t find down at your local supermarket. But in saying that if I had to work with one it would be beautiful wild garden roses, I think they always captivate people.

What inspires you?

Creativity and creative people, I grew up with an incredibly creative family who continue to inspire me. And then of course nature and travel has a huge influence on my style of floral design. My brother lives in New York with his family and I spent some good time there this year and had a chance to spend some time with the incredibly amazing farmer/florsit Sarah from SAIPUA. I came back so inspired by her.

What gets you out of bed each day?

When the alarm goes off at 3:45am to go the markets it would be knowing about all the beautiful flowers and craziness I’m about to endure. And then getting to spend the day with flowers and my beautiful dogs at the studio, Ziggy and Ollie and our rescue cat Caspar.

What does a day in the life of Becca look like?

If I’m working on a wedding it’s normally very early starts, coffee and extreme madness of processing flowers, flower arranging and making a lot of mess. If it’s not doing that it’s quoting and communicating with clients and looking through books, magazines, blogs, Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration. When I have time I love to go exploring new gardens and be outside as that’s where I find most of my inspiration.

What excites you?

Many things especially when flowers are involved! But I’d have to say in my job nothing excites me more than making people happy with flowers and transforming a space with an arrangement. It really is amazing how much flowers and plants change the look of a room.
