Elopement Love in Sedona, Arizona - Kait & James p.2

1

A white dress trailing in copper dust under blue skies - have you ever seen anything more beautiful?! Kait + James’ elopement photos (the day after their wedding) took our breath away.

The stillness of Sedona and those infamous jagged red rocks set the background for moments of intimacy shared by the newlyweds. This shoot inspired us, a reminder that if you’re having a huge wedding but long for intimate moments in a spectacular, remote place, consider getting together with your photographer before or after your wedding to shoot your dream photos!

We asked Kait + James about their experience - why they did it, what it was like, how their photographer was, and what was the best part:

What was your favourite part of the your time in the mountains?

My favorite part of our time in the mountains was getting really take in each other. During the wedding, you are so busy and there are so many people that you have to talk to, but in the mountains we truly got to slow down, take in the special moment of us committing ourselves to one another. It was so fun to get dressed up again and hike through the desert to get the perfect shots.

What was the best part about having Gregory Woodman take your photos?

We absolutely love Gregory. James and Greg have been best friends for years. James was the bestman in Anna and Greg’s weddings, and Greg was the bestman in our wedding. It was so special for our sweet friends capture our love and commitment! The entire time of our portrait session was pure fun and friends having fun being creative. We completely let Gregory lead the shoot and be as creative as he wanted. Some would be opposed to hanging out with people the day after your wedding, but for us it was special and fun to spend time with our friends!

Tell us about the best moment of the day!

At one point of our portrait shoot, Gregory was being creative capturing beautiful photos of our rings and James and I were able to sit down and simply stare at the extraordinary red mountains in front of us. This moment was so sweet because I was sitting in my wedding gown next to my HUSBAND and gazing at God’s beautiful creation. In this moment I felt an overwhelming about of gratitude and joy, that my King would be so loving to give me such perfect gifts.
