Beautiful in White: Jenny + Jayden

Jenny + Jayden’s minimal, contemporary styles shone through in the design and feel of their wedding day. A neutral palate of grey, white, and greens created a very modern feel, which matched the stunning scenery of the vineyards, the sweeping coastal views and the unique limestone rammed-earth exterior walls at the reception venue.

For the Ceremony, Creating Beautiful designed an arbor to match the minimal and modern design aesthetic of Port Phillip Estate, draped in a blanket of white hydrangeas. Inside, the dining room was layered with slate grey linens, white draped napkins cascading off the table, ceramic tea light candles and bespoke candle stick holders. Towering in the centre of tables was a beautiful white bespoke circular floral stand with lush green organic foliage and textural white blooms.

Tell us about your proposal.

Jayden and I met many years ago while we were both travelling around Europe with friends on a gap year after having completed University. We met on the ferry from Mykonos to Ios in the Greek Islands and happened to be staying at the same accommodation in Ios (Francescos). A few nights later, we bumped into each other at the hotel bar, where Jay invited me to share a mojito and we hit it off from the get-go. Almost exactly 7 years after our chance meeting in the Greek Islands in 2008, we went back to holiday in Mykonos with friends in 2015. Unbeknownst to me, Jay had organised a surprise night away in Ios with our friends. That night, we returned to Francescos where we shared our first mojito and he proposed just metres away from where we sat that first night. Nothing had changed, the furniture, the view, it was all the way I remembered it.

How did you know your partner was the one?

We had so much in common from the get go – we got along so effortlessly. Conversation was so natural and we both felt so comfortable in each other’s presence. After merging our itineraries and travelling through Europe with our friends, we spent everyday together for four months and didn’t get sick of each other.

What do you love most about your partner?

Jenny: While we have so much in common, we approach things very differently and I think we complement each other. Jay is very decisive and straight to the point, whereas I suffer from diplomacy and sometimes struggle to make a decision. I love how generous Jay is to the ones he cares about most and is incredibly loyal. I’ve never met someone so driven before which inspires me.

Jayden: I love how carefree Jen is. The compassion she shows for others always putting family and friends before herself is nothing short of amazing. Jen allows me to be me while complementing me in the areas I’m lacking. I love the way she supports me in my never-ending ambition to take over the world. I couldn’t imagine doing life without her by my side. Put simply, I love Jen because she manages to love me.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

The most touching moment for us was when Jenny’s 2 year old niece Georgia and Jayden’s 2 year old nephew Lachie walked hand in hand down the aisle – coerced by Jayden with a handful of Smartie’s at the end of the aisle…worked a treat!

What is marriage to you?

Unity, commitment, compromise and belief in one another and what we have.
