An elopement by the sea

Lauryn Kay orchestrated this ethereal styled “elopement” on the Oregon Coast, taking advantage of the grey, misty and windy setting to bring us photography that is movingly moody and romantic. Here she explains how she was able to construct the styling with her team of expert vendors: ‘I collected items from antique and consignment stores to compose the backdrop, and the story that followed. My favourite piece by far was the trunk; it was the catalyst for the direction of the scene and looks like it actually washed ashore. The colours for this elopement took their cues from the seaside: tones of blue-grey, ivory and blush were our inspiration. The sugar flowers designed by Rosycakes on the soft pastel cake brought a sweet delicacy and playfulness to the dark neutral tones. The silk strands of the gown called to mind sea creatures—octopi, jelly fish, and seaweed. The flowers, dress, and the bride’s wispy up-do came to life in the spirited winds of the day. The gorgeous floral crown, garland and arrangements by pistils & stamen brought an overall dream-like quality to the event. Our talented team of vendors and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest converged to create an effortless and spontaneous coastal elopement.’
