Amanda + Matthew: an engagement in Rome

3

Amanda and Matthew took to Rome for an intimate engagement shoot in an exotic destination. And here they share all the excitement of planning their wedding.

What have been the most exciting parts of planning your wedding? The wedding registries. There’s just something about getting to handpick a few essential (and non-essential) goods you both fancy. It really is a fun way to envision a new home and life together as a married couple. And two, making tons of decisions - together.

How do you think marriage will change your relationship? Marriage will take our relationship to a deeper level. Our relationship will be bound by the fact that two people who are madly in love will promise to love each other forever, unconditionally.

What do you most look forward to about your wedding? Being able to celebrate with all of our friends and family whom we absolutely adore. It’ll be a lovely party with a beautiful cake, too!

What are the most important things that will create a long lasting and loving marriage? Always try to be the best version of yourself, so you can expect that from the other person in a relationship. Learn how to love each other, be each other’s best friend, and support each other’s interests and passions, joyfully. We use the Bible to remind us of what unconditional love looks like (Corinthians 13:4-7) as well as what the needs of husband and wife are (Ephesians 5:33).

Who are the vendors that you are working with for your wedding day? We are working with Elaine Bell Catering in Napa, Michele Shore Photography, Vicemi Florist and FotoPop in San Francisco, just to name a few.

Who have been your favourite wedding dress designers? I love an elegant, timeless and classic dress for a bride. So, I think Monique Lhuillier’s dresses are just stunning. I would love to wear one from her line.

What special ways do you express your love to each other? We express our love with all of the love languages. We try to show our appreciation and gratitude by surprising each other with little gifts. We support and challenge each other’s goals. Mostly, we spend quality time together -enjoying each other’s company as we do our day-to-day routines.

What are your favourite ways to spend time together? We love travelling to new places, cooking with new recipes and catching up on our favourite shows.

What’s your relationship advice for couples planning their big day? Get as much done as early as possible. Fortunately, we have been able to secure almost all of our vendors well in advance of our wedding. Now, we only have a handful of items left on our list, all of which seems very doable in the next five months.

What’s the best relationship advice anyone has given you? Always love each other, listen to each other, try to understand the other person’s point of view when you disagree, and show your appreciation.
