Aimee + Andrew

Aimee + Andrew from Issue 29 selected the stunning Mansion Hotel & Spa at Werribee Park as their venue and from there the style evolved! “Planning a summer wedding, I knew I wanted shades of apricot and white, but to give it a more contemporary feel, I was immediately drawn to pops of vibrant pink, magenta and raspberry tones. White linen and clear ghost chairs provided the perfect canvas, along with gold highlights that gave the wedding a sense of opulence and elegance,” says Aimee. Andrew: To achieve the look I was after, which was a contemporary yet traditional style, I wore a navy blue bespoke suit from Briggins, which had a black trim on the lapels, along with a classic black bow tie. The groomsmen and I wore brightly coloured, polka dot Happy Socks underneath our classic suit pants and Aquila shoes. I also arranged custom monogram cufflinks for the groomsmen and myself. Aimée: It wasn’t until I came across Suzanne Harward that I actually started to get excited about my wedding dress and believed I would be able to find something truly me. The team at Suzanne Harward were fabulous! They understood me and my style right from the start and worked with me (an extremely anxious bride) to create a unique, one-of-a-kind dress that was everything I wanted. The soft tulle, draped bodice and full skirt were perfect!

Andrew: Our first dance was the highlight for me. We attended dance lessons prior to the wedding, and for someone like me who has “two left feet”, it was quite a challenge! But being able to bring it all together to impress our friends and family as a married couple was a stand-out moment. Aimée: The special words we shared in our vows was probably my highlight. There were tears of happiness, laughter and hilarity, and saying those words to Andrew and hearing him recite his was probably the most memorable and special part of our day.

Andrew: I thought Aimée’s dress was absolutely perfect and could not have been any more reflective of her natural style – simple, understated elegance. Aimée is quite the perfectionist and I know how hard she worked in the lead up to the wedding to find the perfect look that was truly her. After the 60 or so dresses she tried on, she could not have been any more right in her selection of a custom Suzanne Harward gown. Aimée: Andrew looked so incredibly happy! I don’t think I have ever seen him as content as I did that day. He is always so focused on making me smile each and every day, so I was incredibly honoured that on our most important day together, I was able to make him smile in return.

Andrew: My family from the US made the long trip to Australia for the wedding. My cousins were involved on the day and worked with our celebrant to ensure things ran smoothly during the ceremony. My brother also played a big part in calming my nerves in the week leading up to the wedding – I was so worried about how unseasonably wet the weather was. Every day we would be on the phone chatting at 4.30pm when the weather forecast was updated on the BOM site, weighing up whether to cancel the backup marquee or make the big risk of going with the amazing open dance floor. In the end, I am glad he convinced me to take the risk – it totally paid off!
