Amy + Kane: A Wedding of Elegance

Amy and Kane’s summery elegance styled wedding was one full of beautiful warm muted tones, among the grey skies that proved to make for some vibrant photos! We had a little chat with Amy and Kane to find out a bit about their love story, and here’s what we learned…

Can you tell us about the proposal?

Amy: Kane organised a special picnic on Sydney harbour after our Saturday summer morning swim at our local Coogee beach. He got down on one knee with the ring and popped the question half way through the picnic and pulled out a surprise bottle of Moet that he’d hidden in his bag.

How did you know your partner was the one?

Amy: There was always something special between us. We had worked in the same office a few years prior to dating, so we knew each other’s faces but never spoke. A few years later, my friend Katie invited me to be on a social sports team, and when I turned up, I realised Kane was Katie’s brother! We’ve both known it was right from the start and feel like it was meant to be.

What do you love most about your partner?

Amy: Kane is loyal, hard working, and compassionate. He has an amazing sense of adventure.

Kane: Amy’s sense of adventure is great too, as well as her generosity and kindness. We both love that our interests and aspirations are so similar, and that we’re as much best friends as we are lovers!

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Amy: Half way through the night, Kane took me away from the reception with a glass of champagne each so we could have a moment alone and soak it all in. We’d recommend this to any couples getting married because it was as though time stood still for a few minutes, we could exchange a few private words, and it was just Kane and I – as bride and groom – and it’s the only moment in the day that didn’t pass by in a heartbeat.

Any advice to future couples getting married?

Amy: The most special part of the wedding planning that we found was the time spent with family and close friends organising the wedding. There were so many discussions, ideas, and of course a few too many opinions, but in retrospect it was so special to have an excuse to call and catch up with everyone so frequently, to organise something so special.
