It’s impossible to not fall instantly in love with these two. Married on the lake at Wandin Valley Estate in the Hunter Valley, Amber + Matt’s wedding is full of warm autumn florals, the most joyful bridal party and so much laughter. Scroll down to get to know the sweet couple, see more photos from Kat Stanley and fall in love like we did.

Tell us about your proposal. It was SUCH a surprise! Matt had set up an elaborate rouse to get me out of the house using my nephew as bait. I came home after a few hours and walked into our humble 2 bedroom apartment with no furniture, Phil Collins‘ Groovy kind of love’ playing, champagne, cheese,  giant balloons saying “Marry Me”, and my amazing man standing there smiling.

I didn’t believe it at first, but after 5 minutes of him pleading it was true – I yelled YES!

How did you know your partner was the one? My mum once told me to marry someone who makes you laugh because when your old and ugly, at least you will still be laughing.

As soon as I met Matt, and I could not stop smiling and laughing, I knew he was the one. He also encouraged me to smuggle wine into a cinema on one of ours first dates, so some would say that is how I knew he was the one.

What do you love most about your partner? Matt is such a thoughtful, sensitive soul. The way he is with me honestly surprises me every single day. From waking up every morning to a kiss on the cheek, to texting me every single day before 12 to check in. From moving our whole life timetable around just so I can work out when I want to, to giving me the cheesiest bite of his chicken parmy. From being so enthusiastic about my life fads that he know won’t last, to buying me yellow billy buttons just to make me smile.

It really is those little things that make me feel special every single day.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day? I can’t choose between walking down the aisle, or saying our vows!

I remember getting out of the car, and seeing everyone at our ceremony and in the distance I saw my amazing man, who looked happy but wasn’t smiling. It wasn’t until I got closer that I saw his eyes welled up that I knew he couldn’t smile or he would burst out. I feel like that moment, and his face, was every brides dream of how they would want their partner to be waiting for them at the end of the aisle.

Meanwhile I was laughing and cracking up most way down the aisle – I am not sure if that is how Matt dreamed his bride to be!

Describe your wedding theme/style. We had a super relaxed wedding. Our celebrant, Ben Ager, set the scene for the rest of the day with his edgy and funny ceremony. For me, florals and venue were everything. I would consider our set up minimal and we let the venue do the talking. We got married on the beautiful lake at Wandin Valley Estate in the Hunter Valley.

We stuck to warm autumn tones with a slightly rustic, vineyard romance. The burgundy dahlias in the florals across the whole day were so beautiful and tied our color scheme in perfectly. Then my dress, being a long sleeve, low back simple gown bought a layer of elegance. Along with Matts crisp black suit, that was so on point!

What is marriage to you? For me, marriage means that I have now given Matt my everything. I had already given him my heart, my body, my soul, but now I also give him complete trust and faith. By giving a man my hand in marriage I am giving him the power to change my life and with all my trust and faith I know he will only ever change my life for the better.
