A letter from the editor

2

I’ve learnt a lot about love lately from the people around me. We all know that it’s more than just a notion of daydreams (well I hope we do)! The fact is, love is hard work! Purely existing with someone might get you by in the short term, but it’s the long term we need to be interested in. It’s the hard yards that actually make you both a better person on the other side. How beautiful is it seeing old people walking hand-in-hand and the knowingness they have for each other? I want to be like that, to have that deepened friendship and intimacy!

And you know the person you’re about to marry, that you love just the way they are and never want to change? I don’t want to shatter any dreams, but they will change, and we should want them to develop and grow. We are ever-evolving beings and need to discover the beauty in each other over time and allow it to bring us closer together.

I’m totally challenged by the quote on pg 84, “Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” In all honesty though, I’ve had those moments of utter frustration with dear Luke as I’m sure he’s had with me, and I’ve wondered about “every circumstance” and if it’s worth it! The answer without a doubt is definitely yes!

Luke and I have been on quite a journey since our little ones were born: juggling home life, parenthood and a number of projects we’re responsible for both separately and together; enough to scare the pants off most people! We’ve definitely clung to each other through these times with a grump here and there, but always come back to each other, the one we can depend on. We have each other’s back, and put up with each other’s huffing, tiredness and pain! I hope you can share a similar story of never giving up and enduring through “every circumstance” … from the bottom of my heart, I really do!

Relationships in their great depth need to be protected and more than ever have networks of support surrounding them to help them flourish. We hope white can be a gentle, inspiring support to your relationship, preparing you in the early stages as young lovers so you can grow into well-seasoned married couples. It is with this dream that we have brought you another heartfelt edition of white, full of inspiring articles along with some fun details you’ve come to love. Happy reading!
