Islay + Antonine hosted their celebration at Merricks General Wine Store, a chic, country venue on the Mornington Peninsula, complete with rustic details and the finest wine. Tell us about your proposal. Antoine proposed on a family holiday to Byron. I got out of the shower, hot and disheveled after a run together to the shops, to find Antoine down on one knee. I screamed and asked him what he was doing and he replied will you marry me? I was so shocked I couldn’t speak! Once I found my words, I of course said yes! My whole family arrived, from around the country, shortly after and we celebrated with all the champagne!
How did you know your partner was the one? I don’t know if there was a particular point in time, perhaps after I took him on his first camping trip. I knew I would live a happy life full of adventure and fun with Antoine. We have the same view on family and share the same values. I have always felt safe and loved with Antoine.
What do you love most about your partner? Antoine is the most driven, hard working person I know. He inspires me every day. He is full of passion, energy and adventure and I feel lucky every day to call him my husband.
What was your favourite part of the wedding day? My favourite part of the day was exchanging vows with Antoine in front of our family and friends. It is a lifelong promise and saying it in front of your loved ones is just a really special moment.
Describe your wedding theme/style. We wanted our wedding to reflect us, our style, our values, our families and our passions. It was French provincial under Australian natives with delicious wine, food, lots of laughter and dancing all night long.
What is marriage to you? Marriage is a partnership made up of mutual respect, trust, adventure and admiration. It is finding the person you adore and making a life with them.
