A boho glamour wedding for Emma + Paul

This lovely pair know just what it takes for a long-lasting relationship, citing some simple advice from Dr Seuss. “We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love”. Emma believes that marriage is “getting to wake up next to your favourite weirdo and choosing everyday to honour the vows you declared to each other on your wedding day!!” Read more about how this couple came to marry below:

Tell us about your proposal. Paul proposed on a weekend getaway at his grandparents’ holiday house in Austinmer. We went for a morning walk and he surprised me with the proposal when we were sitting on the big red chair on the headland. The chair has since been painted grey but it’s still the big red love chair to us!

How did you know your partner was the one? Paul and I started dating when I was only 18. My first serious boyfriend, of course I thought he was the one from the beginning … young love! Our relationship matured as we grew older. We travelled both together and separately, but our love was constant.

What do you love most about your partner? I love that Paul always knows how to make me laugh, even if I’m annoyed about something. He knows when I just need to cry even if I don’t but always feel better afterwards. I love his honesty and patience. I love everything about him!!

What was your favourite part of the wedding day? Our ceremony – walking down the aisle with my Dad, looking at Paul and bursting into tears. Standing in front of my closest family and friends saying our vows and celebrating our love for each other – it really is the happiest day of your life!!

Describe your wedding theme/style. I can’t say we had a particular style or theme, maybe Winter Formal. I spoke to our wedding planner, Steph, and showed her things I liked and told her our colour palette of navy and rose gold. She was amazing at bringing all our ideas to fruition. Leni, our incredible calligrapher, did all our marble coasters that doubled as seating placements and our guests took them home as a keepsake. We were blessed with a beautiful winter’s day- everything was PERFECT!
