A Boho Forest Wedding: Hayley + Callum

0

For Hayley + Callum, marriage is two best friends, choosing each other in life and in love, day after day. “It’s having all of your favourite people in one room, celebrating one of life’s happiest moments. It’s sunset picnics and rainy day sleep-in’s. It’s gardening and grocery shopping and red wine nights on the couch. It’s creating a family and new traditions of your own. It’s growing old and looking back with a full heart, together.”

Their recent nuptials took place in a misty forest, with deep hues and gorgeous blooms. You can check out their day below, with stunning images from Paris Hawken Photography!

Tell us about your proposal:

Callum proposed on a beautiful property called Jesters Flat in Margaret River. After a 90 minute horse trail ride, we returned to the homestead where a beautiful picnic was set up in a giant treehouse. We always take turns of arranging surprise dates, so this didn’t seem out of the ordinary. I was so busy snapchatting the stunning views, that I didn’t notice Cal was nervous (or wearing a snow jacket on a sunny day in May). After lunch, he’d told me there was one surprise left and to close my eyes. Even at this point, I still had no idea. My heart could have exploded when he asked me to marry him. I was so surprised and so honoured, I just couldn’t stop crying and hugging him. We then sat by the fire pit in the sunshine sharing a bottle of wine, enjoying our secret for a little while before calling the family.

What do you love most about your partner?

Hayley: I love his beautiful mind and gentle heart. I love his honesty and how comfortable he is being an individual. He’s incredibly patient and he’ll always listen before he talks. He keeps life fun, he’s romantic and we have great banter. Most of all, he loves me unconditionally for exactly who I am.

Callum: I love her hyper caring nature; she’d give the shirt off her own back for someone in need. I love her ability to see the best in people and her willingness to always be the one that people can rely on, especially to do the mundane tasks that people take for granted. I love her down to earth and humble nature and her ability to make others feel special, important and cared for.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

We had so many incredible moments, it’s hard to choose one. The first time we saw each other at the end of the aisle was pretty special and of course the first dance, where we felt like the only people in the room.

The most memorable moment for a lot of people though, was when the rain began to fall as we were reading our vows. We were in the middle of the forest and everyone was completely unprepared because the rain forecast was minimal. There was something really beautiful about the misty haze between the trees and seeing the ink of Callum’s vows run down the page while he spoke the most beautiful words to me.
